Jesus asks, “what do you want Me to do for you?”   Mark 10:35-45

The four gospels are portraits of Jesus’ life and ministry.  Similar but different accounts due to different human perspectives, yes all inspired via the Holy Spirit but God always uses mankind to accomplish His mission.  Matthew focuses on Jesus’ Kingship.  Mark focuses on Jesus’ Servanthood.  Luke focuses on Jesus’ Humanity and John focuses on Jesus’ Deity - all important portraits of Jesus Christ.  Jesus always meets us where we are, at our point of need, if we will just look to Him and trust Him.  Often times what we desire and/or think we need is not always necessarily our greatest need, but we can’t always see that ourselves.  I have been blessed to travel, some domestic and some abroad.  I have come to the conclusion, people are people. As I am penning this weeks pastors desk I am literally 35,000 feet in the air, traveling at 500 miles per hour!  It doesn’t seem we are going that fast because there is nothing to compare it to.  The altitude is a different case, the ground is way down there, which I can see because the visibility is good and I am sitting next to the window. 

 A 35,000 feet perspective (no control of the situation) is different from on the ground perspective (feel I’m in control).  I can see the big picture from here!  The big picture is that myself and everyone on this plane expects to land safely on the ground and continue their life on the ground.  The human need is the same, in this plane and on the ground.  We all need shelter, food, clothing.  We all need to love and be loved.  It is well said that “home is where the heart is.”  I guess I have three homes, one in Massachusetts which I am departing from, one in Indiana which I am flying too, and one in heaven which is my final destination by the grace of God.  My prayer is that I make heaven my home and that all within my sphere of influence make heaven their home too!  Jesus’ greatest desire is that all make heaven their home (read John 3:16-17). 

 Someday I am going to have to say goodbye to this world, but I don’t want to say goodbye to my loved ones, instead I want to say “I’ll see you later” or as the song goes “I’ll meet you in the morning!”  You see the 35,000 feet view is that people need Jesus.  If this plane should crash and we not make it safely to earth, what do you think the greatest need of every soul on this plane would be prior to crashing?  Yes - salvation!  If you read this post it means we landed safely today, and my mission continues, mission to help people see the big picture. It also means that God has extended His grace another day.  Jesus paid the ransom, He paid our sin debt (Romans 6:23) but we must come to Him by faith.  Someday that door of grace will end.  That grace could come to an end today for all on this plane, we’ll know shortly, due to land in 15 minutes - I’ll check back in then and post. If not, you’ll not see this post and I will have written to myself, and hopefully share with all who will listen in a short about of time.

“Lord, if your grace continues another day for those on this plane, help me to love you and others.  Lord, help me to see people from your perspective.  Lord, give us a passion for souls.  Give us a servants heart.” - in Jesus name. Amen.
