Jesus, in His letter to the church in Smyrna says, “I know your works, tribulation, and poverty (but you are rich)…”   Smyrna was a prosperous city, yet the Christians were poor, due to being robed and fired from their jobs in persecution for their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.   Jesus goes on to say what was yet to come for their...

Life can be stressful at times.   Life sometimes feels likes its beating us down for a variety of reasons.   Our life gets so busy at times that it seems impossible to take care of our “to do” list.   We can get so busy that we become a slave to our “busyness.”   This busyness may not be in of itself bad. It might be work,...

“This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it!”

Becky and I took the grandkids to see and experience the Niagara falls over fall break.   Such power and beauty, it is so amazing but potentially dangerous too.   Over the years thousands have fatally died via accident, stunt, attempted suicide.   On the...

Jehovah Mephalti - The Lord my Deliverer!   One of the great themes of the Bible is that God is our deliverer.   The bible is full of accounts and foreshadows of God’s deliverance - from Genesis to Revelation - past, present and future!   God has promised to deliver all who, by faith, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as their...

“For We Know - Blessed Assurance”     2 Corinthians 5: 1-8

In the words of the apostle Peter, “for this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, though you know and are established in the present truth.   Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you…”...

“One Body - One Church”   1 Corinthians 12: 12-27

To the few that actually have read my pastor’s desk over the years, I hope that it has brought insight and encouragement.   I don’t know what the Lord has in store for Becky and I at the first of the year but I hope to continue posting my weekly writing, it just may be called something...

“…the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”   James 5:16

Please pray for our country and for our leaders that America will unit as “One Nation Under God!”   Pray that we will quit the negative rhetoric, and agree to disagree on certain issues.   Especially as Christ followers there is no place for all...

“The Kingdom of God - Its Timing, Power, Purpose & Hope!”       Acts 1:1-11

“There’s a scene of its grandness before me, of its greatness there can be no end; it is joy, it is peace, it is glory, in my heart, how these riches do blend!   ’Tis a kingdom of peace, it is reigning within, it shall ever increase in my soul; we...

“Work & Rest - God Ordained”   Luke 10:1-2

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

God has ordained and sanctified human life, made in His image.   God has ordained and sanctified marriage between a man and a woman.   God has ordained and sanctified ‘work and rest!”   In all this, because of His love he has bestowed on us, He still gives us...

Jesus asks, “what do you want Me to do for you?”   Mark 10:35-45

The four gospels are portraits of Jesus’ life and ministry.   Similar but different accounts due to different human perspectives, yes all inspired via the Holy Spirit but God always uses mankind to accomplish His mission.   Matthew focuses on Jesus’ Kingship.  ...
