The Brooklyn Church of God is celebrating (“Homecoming”) 53 years of life and ministry this Sunday, October 2nd, 2016!   I am thankful for ALL those who have sacrificially given of their time, talent and money to the ministry here - past, present and future!   The Apostle Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians chapter 3 (verses 5-11) that one plants, one waters, but it is God who gives the increase!  I pray that as we celebrate what the Lord has done in our past, that we not grow weary in the present and future -  that we might continue to labour for the harvest of souls!  I pray that we will all continue to plant and water, doing our part, trusting the Lord for the increase.  For us to do that we must be the “good soil” that Jesus spoke of in the parable of the sower in Matthew 13.  Jesus said the “rocky” soil did not take root, therefore fell away with the tests and trials of life.  Jesus said the “thorny” soil gave way to the cares of this life.  But the “good” soil yielded fruit.  What kind of “soil” are you?”   Brooklyn Church of God, as we celebrate what God has done, let us each one endeavor to continue to be that “good soil” -  people that are rooted and grounded in God’s word and devoted to prayer.  A people that does not grow weary of watering and planting nor grow weary of working in God’s field.   And as we celebrate “Homecoming”, let us remember the greatest “Homecoming” will be when Jesus comes back - “What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see, And I look upon His face - the One who saved me by His grace; When He takes me by the hand, and leads me through the Promised Land, What a day, glorious day, that will be!”

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 15:58)
