“Your Hope & Future!” Jeremiah 29: 1,5,7, 10-14
We live in very anxious times. I think every generation has endured anxious times, and each generation would most likely say that their time was the most anxious!
Regardless, we have lived through the pandemic, anxious times. UFO and Alien encounters continue to surface, anxious times. Political disunity, an America divided, anxious times. ‘Christ followers’ divided over politics! - anxious times. War in Iran. High gas and food prices. Russia and Ukraine war. Uncertainty of China and Korea position, anxious times. Cuba just 90 miles off the coast of Key West, Fl - with threat of attacks via drones, anxious times. A Culture trying to redefine marriage - sex and gender, anxious times. A liberal church at large, anxious times. With all these ‘assignable causes’ for anxious times, one would wonder or question - if we even have a hope and a future?!
It is well said that “A person can survive, About forty days without food, 3 days without water and only 4 minutes without oxygen; but a person cannot survive 1 second without Hope.”
The God of the Bible has given us hope - hope in Him! The God of the Bible has given us “a hopeful end!” - we have read the book! It is easy for people to think that somehow God is against them but He is not and “if God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” (cf. Ro. 8:31-32).
As Christ followers we have a faith that persevers in anxious times. God is always purposeful, He has an appointed time for everything. My part, your part is to trust in Him and His word. Yes, God has given us hope in all things. Yes, God has given you and me a ‘present’ hope and a ‘future’ hope!
“Your Hope & Future” is not in the things of this world but in the things of God. That being said, God desires to bring about ‘peace’ and ‘hope’ through you and me to this world that desperately needs both! You and I must not only trust in the One who brings both ‘peace’ and ‘hope’ but must point others to the One - ‘Jesus.’
Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
