    Wait on the Lord

    March 20, 2020

These are unprecedented times that we live in.  One can easily become anxious and fearful for the unknown that’s ahead.  Restrictions are escalating due to the COVID-19 virus, and for good reasons, causing emotional, mental and financial stress.   One could easily preach on the “end times” in circumstances like this, Jesus said not to be troubled for these things must come to pass…only the beginning of sorrows (cf. Matthew 24).

I am not going to speak on end times in this writing.  I do think self-examination, repentance, fasting and prayer are needful, not just for times like this but in all times and seasons of life.  My prayer is that we stick to the Bible as the sure foundation and the anchor of our souls.  Panic and fear are not biblical, at least not in the way the world is projecting it.  Yes, Godly, reverent fear is biblical.  One that drives us to our knees, His word and into His presence.  A reverent fear that worships Him for who He is - “Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!…You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for you created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.” (cf. Revelation 4)

The bible reminds us, “have you not known, have you not heard?  The everlasting God, the LORD, the creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary.  His understanding is unsearchable.  He gives power to the week, and to those who have no might He increases strength.”

Since we are all forced to slow down and take more time off, lets “wait on the LORD!”  To those that do, the God of the bible promises, “those that wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (cf. Isaiah 40: 28-31)

Yes these are anxious times, but I encourage you to focus your attention to the one who created time - and turn your eyes upon the Savior - JESUS!

“Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.”

    In His Service,

    Pastor Rodney
