  • Happy Mother’s Day!  As we pause to “thank and honor” our Mother’s present and past, womanhood is under attack.  Mother’s and women in general are so vitally important and critical to our society and to God’s church.  From the very beginning God created male and female.  The bible says that “God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.” (cf. Gen.1:31)

Jesus Himself was born of a woman (cf. Gal. 4: 4).  The Savior of the world could have come some other way, but God chose to send through a woman - which is how all of us got here!  We are living in a day when our society is trying to redefine the sex’s.  Trying to redefine marriage.  Trying to redefine family.  God created us in His image and we will only survive and thrive when we live according to His design and not some distorted view of mankind - “who changed the truth of God for the lie…”(cf. Ro.1:25)

Throughout the Bible, we can find a variety of women who dealt with the  struggles common to womanhood, but none like we have today.

We live in that time when knowledge is increasing exponentially, but we are getting further and further away from God’s truth, not only as nation, but the church at large.

In Galatians (4: 21-31) we read about two covenants, two women and two sons.  One son born via bondwoman according to the flesh (legalism) and another son born via a freewoman through the promise (grace) - “which things are symbolic.”  Jesus said you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.  Grace did not do away with the law, but fulfilled the law.

The law says “honor your father and mother.”  Grace says “love God” and “love others” which is the fulfillment of the law.  How do we love God? - by living out our lives according to His word.  How do we love others? - by giving them the truth of God’s word in love.  The motive for sharing God’s truth should be because we love all people.  The truth is that we must live according to God’s standard by His grace.  Only by living life by God’s design will we find true joy, happiness, contentment, security and freedom!

Ladies - “Thank You” and “God bless you!”

“Lord, bless our home, protect our home; let it be a refuge in this world of sin.  Lord, reign within, keep us strong and true.” (Lyrics, bless our home)
