    Human nature and destiny

    February 16, 2021

    “Essential Theology in troubling times”

    Human nature and destiny

The bible says, “…we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath…” - “There is none righteous, no, not one” - “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”  Our society would have us to believe that mankind (male/female) is basically good.  I look at my life before Jesus with the realization that I did some “good things.”  Mankind is certainly capable of doing “good things”; we are after all, made in the image of our creator (God) and each one is fearfully and wonderfully made according to His word.  However, mankind is born with a flaw in his/her nature - sin; sin of the first Adam.  The bible reminds us therefore, “just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all mean, because all sinned.” (Romans 5:12)

Therefore, mankind’s eternal destiny (without Jesus) is spiritual death, not only is this eternal separation from God, but Revelation describes it this way - “Then death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire.  This is the second death.  And anyone not found written in the book of life were cast into the lake of fire.” (20:14-15)

I believe that only by understanding mankind’s nature and destiny can we truly realize - that ALL people “need the Lord!”
