  • “I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did…,that I may be filled with joy, when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you…” (cf. 2 Timothy 1:3-7)

Happy Independence Day!  - “A call to remembrance of our heritage and faith!”  I, for one, am thankful for my country.  I am thankful for the freedoms that I enjoy and take part in - my Independence!  I am thankful for the church of God reformation movement.  I am thankful for my faith in the God of the Bible, and the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal savior and Lord!

I am thankful for the rich heritage of my “faith” and “country.”  I am thankful for my dual citizenship - citizen of America and citizen of heaven!

From the Declaration on July 4th, 1776 to the present day, American Independence has been an annual celebration - celebrating the birth of the United States, and honoring God’s role in its formation. Yes, America has a christian heritage.  For over two centuries, America’s presidents have acknowledged a belief in God, looked to Him for guidance and credited Him for His blessings!  “In God We Trust” is America’s official National motto, with variants “In God is our Trust” from America’s national anthem, “The Star Spangled Banner.”  The fundamental basis of this Nation’s law was given to Moses on the Mount.  The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings which we get from Exodus and Matthew, from Isaiah and the Apostle Paul.

“Therefore,” as Paul said, “I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you…for God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1: 6-7)

Never forget your rich heritage as a christian nation.  Place your faith in the God of the Bible and in the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord.

Lastly, I am thankful for the freedom to practice my faith, therefore -

“I was glad when they said to me, ‘let us go into the house of the LORD.’”

    - Psalm 122

    Happy Independence Day!
