Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the changing of natures colors and the cooler temperatures. I am reminded too with the changing of the seasons, God’s promise in Genesis 8: 22, “While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease.” Some prophesy “experts” are predicting Jesus’ return this October 31st. Although Jesus made it clear that no man will know the day and hour of His coming (cf. Matt. 24: 36), He did say we could discern the times, or season of His coming - I believe we are there. I do not believe prophesy was given so that we could have all the details figured out, but to exhort us to the “urgency” of getting the gospel out! God still has His heart set on saving mankind. God still has His heart set on His church. God still has His heart set on His sons and daughters. Job questioned God in his suffering, “What is man, that You should exalt him, that You should ‘set Your heart’ on him, that you should visit him every morning…?” You see Job was at a point that he wanted to be left alone, but God in His mercy and grace would not because He is passionate about people - you and me! We read that messianic Psalm (ch.8) of David, “What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?” You see, you were on God’s heart before the foundation of the world, you were on God’s heart when He sent Jesus (God incarnate), and you are still on God’s heart. The key to understanding the “Times” - God still has His heart set on saving mankind! We too, as His church, must get our hearts set on people - in season and out of season. We can do that by praying intentionally for one lost person that we personally know and by supporting His church with our time, talent and resources.
