    Coming

    November 26, 2020

Advent - “the arrival of a notable person, thing, or event.”   Advent means ‘Coming’ in Latin.   What a year 2020 has been!   I challenged myself and His church to “believe God for the impossible” in 2020!   What has taken place this year was not what I had in mind or anticipated.  But God has met my challenge - “to believe Him for the impossible!”   Really that is what faith is, isn’t it?  The bibles says “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11)

I haven’t seen Jesus, but I believe Him at His word.  By faith, I am believing God’s word for life, death and eternity.  I could not have possibly seen what was coming this year, but if I am truly “believing God for the impossible” I don’t need to see what is coming.  My faith rests in the person and work of Jesus Christ.  Jesus says “I am the way”, not a way, but “the way!”  If we keep our eyes on Jesus we won’t loose our way.  Jesus says “I am the truth”, not one of many truths, but “the truth!”

The bible says that one day heaven and earth will pass away, but His word, His truth will never pass away. (cf. Matthew 24: 35)

The bible reminds us that “it is impossible for God to lie…this hope we have as an anchor of the soul…” (cf. Hebrews 6: 18-19)

In a world of strong delusion, half truths and lies, I am thankful for God’s truth and His promises.   Jesus says “I am the life”, not a secret to life, but “the life!”  There is no life apart from God the Father.  There is no way to the Father Jesus says “except through Me.” (cf. John 14: 6)

There are not many ways to God, only one way - Jesus!

Have you invited Jesus to come into your life?!

Jesus says “behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in.”  (cf. Revelation 3: 20)

In a world of uncertainty, I am thankful for Jesus and the certainty of His word!

“Let not your heart be troubled” - Jesus (the way - the truth - the life!)

    In Christ Alone,

    Pastor Rodney
