Come, for all things are now ready!

    March 4, 2022

“Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling, calling for you and for me; patient and loving He’s waiting and watching, watching for you and for me…why should we linger when Jesus is pleading, pleading for you and for me; why should we wait, then, and heed not His mercy, mercies for you and for me?” - Softly and Tenderly, Will L. Thomas

“Come, for all things are now ready!” - Jesus

The single most greatest invitation of all time - past, present and future!

The invitation to come to Christ and have your sins forgiven, your name written in the Lamb’s book of life and to have a place at “the marriage supper of the Lamb!” (cf. Revelation 19: 9)

But, unfortunately so many make excuses not to come.  Excuses are as old as mankind, all the way back to Adam - “the woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave to me of the tree, and I ate,” and Eve - “the serpent deceived me, and I ate.”  Moses - “O, my Lord, I am not eloquent…I am slow of speech and slow of tongue.”  Jeremiah - “Ah, Lord God!  Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.”

You and I have our excuses, why this or that -or we play the blame game.

But when it comes to knowing God in a personal way through Jesus Christ, we have no one to blame but ourselves.  God has said, “they (you and me) are without excuse!” (cf. Romans 1:20)  Jesus tells a parable in Luke, a parable of the great supper.  The invitation was given out, and one by one the people made excuses.  I can’t speak for those in the parable. I can’t speak for you, I can only speak for myself.  You and I have been personally invited and we must accept the invitation personally.  The invitation is to be part of the eternal, everlasting kingdom of God!  The invitation is impartial - He bids all to come! The invitation is now!  The blessings are present and future!  Don’t let your possessions, occupation, hobbies or any manufactured excuses keep you from the kingdom of God!

Don’t let your earthly affections keep you from the lover of your soul!

Set your heart on a new affection - Jesus Christ!  You won’t be sorry - in this life or the one to come!
