How would you answer the question, “Are You Faithful?” I guess another question would be, “Faithful to what?” Webster defines faith as: belief without proof; confidence; reliance; belief in God; loyalty; fidelity to an agreement or promise. Webster defines faithful as: loyal; exact; true.
The Greek word for faithful is ‘Pistos’ meaning, “Trustworthy.”
It is not so important that we can define Faithfulness, but that we demonstrate it and that we understand the object of our faithfulness!
In Revelation (3:7-13) Jesus writes to the church in Philadelphia. Jesus’ assessment of them is that they are faithful. It is interesting that Philadelphos is the Greek for one who loves his brother. One of the greatest characteristics of a faithful church, made up of faithful believers is that they exhibit and demonstrate love - love for Jesus; love for one another; love for His word; love for those that do not know Christ as Savior and Lord; and yes, even love for your enemies! If we are faithful to Jesus and His word the love of Jesus will transform us into lovers! Jesus’ love is unconditional (agape) and He expects His followers, His church, to demonstrate His unconditional love to all people, in all places, at all times!
The Apostle Paul expressed his love this way, “…I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.” (cf. 1 Corinthians 9: 22b)
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” - JESUS
