    Are You a Procrastinator ?

    March 9, 2018

Brother Ben Helton is preaching on “procrastination” this Sunday.   I was actually planning on preaching on procrastination some day (ha, ha).

Procrastination by definition is “The action of delaying or postponing something.”   Put another way, procrastination is defined as “tomorrow - a mystical land where 99 percent of all human productivity, motivation or achievement is stored.”

We all have procrastinated at one point or another.  Maybe by putting off: that doctors visit; getting in shape; loosing weight; making that phone call; mending a relationship; maintenance around the house; making that hard decision; career move; planning retirement; coming to church; starting bible study…..on and on we could go!

Some things that we put off until “tomorrow” may not be life changing or earth shattering, but there is one area of life that is very dangerous to put off - Salvation.  The bible says, “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” (1 Corinthians 6:2)  No one knows when they will draw their last breath, so you want to be sure that your last breath on earth will be your first breath in heaven!  How can you be sure? - by a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as your savior and Lord!

Jesus doesn’t save you just for heavens sake, but for earthly sake.  He wants to help you make those tough decisions too.  I believe some of those things we put off until tomorrow are out of fear.  Listen, your savior has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (cf. 2 Timothy 1:7).  Quit procrastinating - don’t put off tomorrow what you can do today with His help!

    In His Service,

    Pastor Rodney
