  • “Your Mother and the Sanctity of Life”   Psalm 139:13-17

    Mother’s Day, May 10th, 2026

My mom. Born January 10th, 1940.  She was always a hard worker. Stayed at home most years taking care of us children, working outside the home once we were raised. Always had a big garden and canned.  She always kept a spotless home and had a knack for interior decorating. No better cook than my mom!  Loved my dad, who passed in September of 2023. She loves her children and grandchildren.  Mom has always been supportive of the ministry God called me to.  I was privileged to re-baptism my mom latter on in her life.  My mom has buried her husband of sixty plus years and two children. A mother shouldn’t have to bury her children.  My mom, now 86 is confined to a bed at a nursing home, and through it all her faith stays strong.  She knows as this life is passing Jesus has promised in His word something much better prepared for her.

“Thank you” mom for being my mother! Thank you for giving us life and for receiving Christ as your personal Savior and Lord!

Happy Mother’s Day to all our Mother’s!  As we pause to “thank and honor” our Mother’s present and past, womanhood is under attack.  Mother’s and women in general are so vitally important and critical to our society and to God’s church.  From the very beginning God created male and female.  The bible says that “God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good.” (cf. Gen.1:31)

Jesus Himself was born of a woman (cf. Gal. 4: 4).  The Savior of the world could have come some other way, but God chose to send through a woman - which is how all of us got here!  We are living in a day when our society is trying to redefine the sex’s.  Trying to redefine marriage.  Trying to redefine family.  God created us in His image and we will only survive and thrive when we live according to His design and not some distorted view of mankind - “who changed the truth of God for the lie…”(cf. Ro.1:25)

Throughout the Bible, we can find a variety of women who dealt with the  struggles common to womanhood, but none like we have today.

We live in that time when knowledge is increasing exponentially, but we are getting further and further away from God’s truth, not only as nation, but the church at large. The bible says to ‘honor your mother!”  No one can replace your biological mother, but we recognize too that there are reasons for adoption and the nurturing and raising of a child outside the biological.  We have spiritual mothers and mother figures as well!  But we all originated under the umbrella of

Psalm 139,  “You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.  I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (cf. vv. 13-17).

On this mother’s day may we acknowledge the sanctity and dignity of human life and God’s design and purpose - “…in Your book they were written, the days fashioned for me…” (Ps. 139).
