    Why do bad things happen?

    October 10, 2018

“I went out full, and the LORD has brought me home again empty…the almighty has afflicted me?” (cf.Ruth 1)
Naomi had just lost her two sons, and her husband preceded them in death. On top of all that she was away from her family and relatives. She had no means to support herself. What is she to do? Why would an all-powerful, all-knowing and ever-present God allow this to happen to her? Naomi was a good women, a God fearing woman. Well respected and loved. This raises the question - “why do bad things happen?” I don’t know, and God is not obligated to tell us why (probably not the answer you were looking for). But what I do know, I have read the book (God’s Word) and I know how it turns out! I know that my Redeemer lives! He loves me…and I am on the winning side! I choose by faith to trust totally in the providential care of God and look for the good in each day! The bible doesn’t say that all things are good, but that if we trust in Him, “all things work together for good to those who love God.” (cf. Romans 8: 28)
Jesus would remind you and me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ my rest upon me…for when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12: 9-10)
Praying for all those affected by the resent tragedies, that Jesus' grace will embrace you.

    In His Service,
    Pastor Rodney
