The church of God reformation ‘movement!’ Deuteronomy 2: 1-3, 7
“…I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things…” - 2 Pet.1:12
Moses, via the inspiration of the Holy Spirit penned for our remembrance God’s law and promises, though with a heavy heart. You see, Moses would not be continuing the journey to the promised land and he was burdened for the new generation, burdened that they not make the same mistakes and be prepared for their journey forward. Journey that would not be easy, but one that the LORD God would be with them all the way.
Speaking of journey, it is well said that “He leads us by no unnecessary pathways. There is a meaning and a value in every stretch of the road, however rough and tortuous it may be. We learn lessons in the region of Mount Seir which can be learned nowhere else; we discover God in the country of Moab as we could do in no other region. Let us, then, ever rejoice in His commands, however much they disturb us.” (Morgan)
As I pen this weeks pastor’s desk, I too have a heavy heart. Not just because of my mom’s current physical situation, but for the many heartaches that the people I pastor are going through. I have a heavy heart for our nation and its journey forward. I have a heavy heart for the senseless killings that continue to occur. But I am reminded we are not in heaven yet and that we are all saved for an earthly purpose. As God’s people via the new birth through Jesus Christ we can stand upon the promise of God - “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” - (Ro.8:28).
I know what you’re thinking - ‘what does this have to do with “The church of God reformation movement?”’ In short, we need reminded that ‘the church’ is compromised of all blood washed one’s via Jesus Christ - “…the church of God which He purchased with His own blood” - (Acts 20:28). God has ownership - it’s His church - the ‘bride of Christ.” God is always in the act/process of change for the ultimate better of His people - hence ‘reformation!’ Lastly, God’s people are to always be moving forward - hence ‘movement.’
God help us not to get stuck at our ‘mountain’ that is before us - we are “The church of God reformation movement!”
“…I trust in You, O LORD; I say, You are my God. My times are in Your hands!” - Ps. 31:14-15a
