    Complacency

    January 12, 2019

Complacency: “self-satisfaction especially when accompanied by unawareness of actual dangers or deficiencies.”   As you press forward into this New Year are you complacent?  Satisfied with the status quo?  Maybe fear change?  Could it be you have a false sense of security and well-being?  Sometimes we see what we wish to see rather than reality or what might be apparent to everyone else.  Recognizing complacency is one thing - doing something about it is quite another.  The late Steve Prefontaine once said, “To do less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.”

What is the gift?  LIFE!  And ETERNAL LIFE through Jesus Christ!!

We all will have to eventually take a node to age, but that should not keep us from continually pursuing excellence in our everyday lives and to continually pursue becoming more like Christ in our daily lives.  The apostle Paul put it best in Philippians 3, “Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.  Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead.”

Let us not be satisfied with the status quo this New Year, but let us “press forward toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

    In His Service,

    Pastor Rodney
