“The Word & The Spirit”    Nehemiah 8: 1-6

‘Revival’ - is best defined as the ‘Spirit of God working through the word of God, in the lives of the people of God.”

We are so blessed as a country to freely travel.  To dream, set goals, aspire!  The only thing that hinders us is really ourselves - “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!” (Phil.4:13)   I was honored to be able to be along side the course to cheer on the Boston Marathon runners!  My friend Greg Evans, from Indiana ran. I was as thrilled to see him run as I would have been for myself.  We had a great week too catching up with my grandkids, daughter and son-in-law.  We toured Boston, got to see all the historical sights in which this country was birthed, which is celebrating 250 years of Independence this year.  A country founded upon Judeo-Christian principles!  The bible reminds us in 2 Cor. 3:17, “Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” 

Take the Lord out and we lose our blessings, lose our liberty as we know it.  The Lord is the key to true success, freedom, peace.  God is not the great ‘joy killer!’  Your creator wants you to dream and aspire, but keep Him and His Word at the forefront of all that you do and hope to do.  He is your creator, your sustainer, and giver of eternal life through Jesus Christ (cf. Jn 3:16-17).  I have been blessed to have traveled here and abroad.  Through my few travels I have learnt that people are people!  All humankind have the same physical, emotional and spiritual needs.  People desire to love and to be loved.  All people are equal in God’s sight!  God’s passion is people and therefore should be our passion!  We are to love people and use things, not love things and use people!  Life is all about people and relationships - doing life together and encouraging others to give their life to Christ so that they might have eternal life!  What does all this have to do with ‘The Word & the Spirit?’ - everything!  The bible says “heaven and earth will pass away but His word will never pass away!”  His word is all about relationships.  Right relationship with God the Father through His Son Jesus Christ, and with one another.  We become brothers and sisters in Christ through the Word - Jesus Christ.  We are heirs and joint heirs of Christ.  We have an eternal, heavenly hope!  All this is on the authority of His word and through the power of His Holy Spirit!  It is thrilling to know that these relationship we are building here on earth can continue right on into eternity - if you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ!
