    Be strong in the Lord!

    August 2, 2025

“Be still, and know that I am God” says the God of heaven and earth!  The creator and sustainer of life knows what is best for us, if we will only listen and wholly trust Him.

The apostle Paul, while in prison encouraged all believers to “be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might!” What an example and inspiration Paul was to believers then and now, even after all these years.

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I don’t want “to be strong.”  Sometimes, I’m just tired of “doing”, “fighting.”  But those feelings and emotions are not reliable.  And it is in those times that I remind myself the ‘strength’ and ‘doing’ is not in of myself but as Paul said “in the Lord and the power of His might!”  Paul goes on to remind us in Ephesians chapter 6, that “we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places!”  Evil in our world appears in all shapes, sizes and forms.  When God is working in you or among His people we can expect the devil to be working overtime.  But “greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world!”  The bible says to “resist the devil and he will flee from you.”  Paul goes on to remind us in Ephesians to “take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day…be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one!”  When you and I realize that we are in a spiritual warfare and realize that we cannot do anything in our own strength but that we “can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (us)” - then we will be ‘more than conquers through Him who loved us.!”  Jesus said “I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it!”  Who is the church?  Everyone that has accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord!  Have you accepted Christ - have you invited Him in?

I pray that you have. If not, I pray that you will and that you will “take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God!”

God help me, help us to “open our mouths boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am (we) are His ambassadors.”
