“And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘behold, the bridegroom is coming, go out and meet Him!’”…”Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.” - Jesus (cf. Matt.25)
We prepare and watch for many things. Currently we are watching the path of this major winter storm sweeping across the nation, expected to hit my area around midnight and continuing all day Sunday. Forecast is 12-14 inches of snow when its all over. This storm is also bringing in frigid temperatures, forecasting zero to minus 6 degrees below, and highs of 11-25 degrees for all of next week. So what do we do? We believe the ‘experts’ forecast and we plan and prepare as best we can to safeguard ourselves, our loved ones, our pets and our places of dwelling. God has given us wisdom, so we should prepare and plan for these things.
With that being said, have you prepared and planned for where you’re going to spend eternity? Eternity is coming for all of us. Ella Hill once said, ‘the young might and the old must.’ The bible reminds us, “and it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgement.” (Heb.9:27)
Have you prepared for eternity? There is only one way to plan, there is only one way to miss the judgement and that is through Jesus Christ and Him alone. The bible says, “for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Ro. 6:23) The bible says, “for whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” (Ro.10:13)
The bible says, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved!” (Ro.10:9)
Believe the Bible, believe what God has to say and be prepared for eternity. God wants you and I to have the same assurance the apostle Paul had as he penned in Romans 14:8b-9, “…whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.”
Be safe. Be prepared. Godspeed!
